Worth the long day

Updated: Aug 8, 2019

We at Hill Country Network love covering all things North Mississippi. From simple gatherings to festivals, we try to be there. Cindy Luther came and hung out with me. Cindy has taken a few months away from the station to take care of some personal business, but I was so glad she came and hung out with me Saturday!!

This past weekend was no exception. We started early on June 29, 2019, around 8am at the Freedom Fest with the bicycle ride, Pedal for Hope that started on the trailhead of the Tanglefoot Trail. It was amazing seeing the multiple riders and knowing that some of them were headed out to ride for a few miles while others were going for 100 miles! Then we were off to the river where the fun was happening with vendors, pony rides and the carnival too. We spoke with the Smoke on the Water bbq grillers and listen to some bluegrass and blues.

At 430pm we were at the River Stage, located at The Park Along the river, down by the Tallahatchie River, getting ready to interview musicians. We did have a surprise guest show up to talk to us, Lt Gov Tate Reeves stopped by and spoke with me before going around and speaking with people at the festival.

We talked with Dirty Streets, an up and coming blues rock band, with a little bit of southern country rock thrown in. These young men were so humble and were a blast for Cindy to interview. We talked with Sam Mosley, our own hometown blues legend!

We hope you will click on to our programs page here at and watch our Hill Country Happenings with highlights from the Freedom Fest. And watch for the upcoming show for Freedom Fest 2019!

Stay tuned and we hope you have a wonderful week!
